Why did Legacy go for B Corp certification?
Our mission is to make events sustainable and we wanted an independent view to show that our methods were best practice in sustainability. It was onerous process and a lot more difficult than we initially thought it would be. What are the advantages of being B Corp?
It has made us aware that we need to be transparent and we are conscious that we need to be seen to behave in a way that fits a value of B corp. It makes decisions easier like purchasing more ethical products/services. With staffing decisions we want to be more mindful of our budget and not fly staff out across the world without a reason. How does Legacy maintain its B Corp status?
We are assessed every 3 years so next one is in 2023 to maintain the accreditation. It is more about updating the documentation now that we have achieved B Corp status.
Hosting using 100% renewable energy
Our hosting provider's operations are powered entirely by renewable energy. Their UK datacentre uses 100% green sourced power as specified by E.ON and as regulated by Ofgem, and their US facility uses 100% renewable energy, as certified by Green-e.
Their datacentre is built from the ground up to be energy efficient, with a PuE rating of between 1.2 and 1.3 and environmental management policy externally assessed to ISO 14001 standards.
Each month our hosting provider invests in responsible reforestation efforts and fund climate crisis solutions that have been certified to remove carbon emissions. So far, they have planted 66,328 trees and funded efforts that have removed 2,094.49 tons of carbon dioxide.
We regularly maintain our account to reduce our energy consumption which also ensures our platform runs smoothly and fast.
